Stairway to Heaven

Filed as neutral, carried by a green cast that shows more in a large room than on a small chip. Vista Paint lists it as Stairway to Heaven (0479).

Chroma 3.7 means the color content is small, which is exactly why the green cast matters so much - there is nothing else here to distract from it. The green cast is more noticeable under cool, daylight-balanced bulbs than under standard warm ones, which tend to mute it.

At LRV 18.0 it sits where most rooms want a wall: light enough to feel open, dark enough to have a surface. Open-plan walls, hallways, anywhere the color has to work in several exposures at once.

If a second wall color is wanted in the same room, Behr Such Melodrama keeps the jump obvious rather than muddy (roughly 36 LRV points from this one).

For anyone tied to a different brand, Valspar Coastal Dusk (5002-2B) is the nearest stand-in, at a delta-E of 1.26. Only 2 other-brand colors land within delta-E 2 of this one, which makes it comparatively unusual. This color reads consistently across most finishes, so the choice can come down to durability needs rather than how it changes the color.

It is lighter than 16 percent of the Vista Paint range. Vista Paint lists it in the C codes, alongside 1,421 other colors.
