Shadow Dance

This is the kind of neutral that earns the word - a true neutral present, but never loud about it. Vista Paint catalogs it as Shadow Dance, 8303.

Chroma 1.2 is the whole difference: below four a color reads as grey, above ten the true neutral takes over. South light flatters it. In a north-facing room it can turn cold, so sample that wall first.

17.0 on the light-reflectance scale puts it in the middle third, which is the part of the scale with the fewest surprises. A practical choice for rooms that will change decor over time, since a true neutral outlasts trends in furniture and textiles.

Behr Such Melodrama makes a good second wall color here - different enough to read as a real choice, close enough to still feel related (about 37 points apart in light reflectance).

For anyone tied to a different brand, Behr Magnet (MQ2-61) is the nearest stand-in, at a delta-E of 1.03. This is not a rare shade: 3 colors from other brands sit within delta-E 2 of it. Matte holds the color truest; a subtle sheen will lift it half a shade under lamps.

It is lighter than 15 percent of the Vista Paint range. Vista Paint lists it in the K codes, alongside 1,318 other colors.
