Lady Nicole

It has just enough yellow cast to have a personality, and just little enough to stay out of the way. Lady Nicole is Dutch Boy's DCP-0030.

A chroma of 4.2 is low enough to read as neutral in most light, but the yellow cast still shifts what the eye calls it. A warm bulb is the easiest fix if this reads colder than expected once it is on the wall.

71.9 on the light-reflectance scale puts it in the middle third, which is the part of the scale with the fewest surprises. Works as a backdrop for artwork, furniture, or anything else in the room that is meant to stand out more than the walls do.

For a secondary wall, Dunn-Edwards Lighthouse gives a natural step up in brightness without feeling like a mismatch (roughly 18.4 LRV points apart).

By the numbers, Sherwin-Williams Frosty White (SW 6196) and this color are indistinguishable - delta-E 0.52, well under what the eye can separate. This is not a rare shade: 8 colors from other brands sit within delta-E 2 of it. Eggshell is a common middle ground here - enough durability for a lived-in room without the sheen that would draw attention to wall imperfections.

It is lighter than 84 percent of the Dutch Boy range. The name is not unique: Vista Paint 0030 also sells a color called Lady Nicole, and it is not the same shade. Dutch Boy lists it in the DCP codes, alongside 29 other colors.
